Caring for Communities
through Sports

Ram’s has supported various sports in St Kitts and Nevis during its 80 years of operation in the Federation.

Ram’s Trading Ltd.'s commitment to our community throughout the years naturally prompted us to invest in the development of our youth. One of the key ways we have managed to accomplish this development is through the support of Sports.

Over the past two decades Ram’s has been at the forefront of sports partnerships in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is our belief that sport builds character and discipline that helps to mold youth into respectable and responsible young men and women, and perhaps, even bolster prominent athletic careers.

We are proud that our involvement in football, basketball, cricket and other athletics has been able to positively impact on the nation’s youth.

Cricket

The Company’s support of cricket can be traced back to June 1937 when it sponsored the Rupchand Cup for the Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament. Ram’s continues to support various cricket developmental programs aimed at pre-teen and teen athletes.

Track and Field

Our support for the nation’s youth in the area of track and field began with the annual “Milo Meet” initiated in 1993 thru our business relationship with Nestle. In 2003 the event evolved into the  Ram’s Primary School Track & Field Championship. This local Championship has grown tremendously over the years now attracting up to 800 athletes from 18 primary schools and over 5000 spectators over a two day weekend. The success of the Meet has been achieved through the  collaborative efforts of Ram’s, The Ministry of Sports, The Ministry of Education, the St Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association, and over 200 volunteers and amateur athletic enthusiasts that give freely of their time, energy, and expertise.

The Meet provides athletes a platform to nurture their sense of competition and teamwork. Based on their athletic abilities some have been afforded the opportunity to later work towards success in secondary and post-secondary athletic programs in the Federation as well as in the U.S.

Track and field events continue to be some  of the most exciting sporting events in the Nation. Even at a primary school level the competition and rivalry is intense, bringing out supporters from every community across the country to cheer for their respective schools and family members.

Football

In March of 2005 the Village Superstars became the RAM’S Village Superstars Football Club. This partnership would provide the foundation needed to support the Club in its efforts to provide the resources necessary to have meaningful impact in the lives of these youth. A priceless partnership.

The Ram’s Village Superstars has had significant impact on not only “The Village” community, but neighboring communities. The Club serves as a safe haven for the youth of these communities, providing them with a platform to express themselves and their talents in a positive way.  Through this platform The Ram’s Village Superstars have managed to produce some of the most talented players in the Federation. This is evident as the Club continues to have heavy representation on the St. Kitts Nevis National Football Team. There are currently 8 players from the Ram’s Village Superstars representing our beautiful country. The Ram’s Village Superstars are proud to hold a record number of championship titles – 5 to be exact!

Ram’s continues to put their imprint on the island of St. Kitts and Nevis in a meaningful and impactful way. We believe it’s our duty to support the very communities that have been so supportive of us over the past 85 years. We continue to wish the Team every success.

Basketball

One team is synonymous with basketball in St. Kitts and Nevis and that is the “Ram’s Energizer Hitters”. The Hitters Basketball team has been the benchmark for basketball over the past two decades. Dominating the local league throughout most of its existence  it’s been our pleasure to be their partners along the way assisting and supporting Mr. James “Barman” Hanley and his staff as they have positively impacted the lives of so many young men. Since 1995 Ram’s has been the proud sponsor of the Hitters Basketball Club and we will continue to stay committed to supporting this amazing Team and their efforts.

Golf

Johnnie Walker, the World’s leading Scotch Whisky Brand, has been the Official Sponsor of the St Kitts Open Golf Championship since 2009.

Together with the St Kitts and Nevis Distributor of Johnnie Walker, Ram’s Trading Ltd., The Royal St. Kitts Golf Club hosts The Johnnie Walker St Kitts Open Golf Championship.   It is St Kitts and Nevis’ premier annual golf event, attracting an international field of amateur golfers who compete for honor and bragging rights in the following categories: Championship, Mens, Seniors, Super Seniors and Ladies.    The Championship is played on the prestigious Royal St Kitts Golf course, one of the best and most challenging golf courses in the Caribbean, exhausting the mental and physical limits of elite and higher handicap golfers who dare to accept the challenge.

Golf builds and shapes moral character, and at times reveals it. It is the ambition of The Royal St Kitts Golf Club and Ram’s Trading Ltd. to use golf as a platform to introduce children to a sport that will develop their minds, bodies and character.  The Club has a junior golf program that offers golf lessons and course play free of cost.  From this platform, Ram’s Trading Ltd. is committed to The Royal St Kitts Golf Club to develop a regional Junior Golf Open Championship.

Arnold Palmer, The King, summed up golf in the following quote:

"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening – and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented."
